2. The popular Great Falls Balloon Festival in Lewiston has been canceled for 2024. The Board of Directors made the announcement Wednesday morning, blaming “a series of challenges and unforeseen circumstances.” Those challenges include logistics, safety concerns and factors beyond their control. The city is stepping in to try and save the festival offering administrative, logistical and operational support.
3. A new study found pedestrians are more at risk of being hit by an electric car than one that runs on gas. EVs and hybrid vehicles were twice as likely to hit a pedestrian than petroleum-fueled cars and trucks. There are two main reasons for the conclusion. First, electric car drivers tend to be younger and less experienced. Also, electric vehicles are quieter than gas ones, so pedestrians might not hear one coming. (Guardian)
4. A new study found that more Americans are smoking weed on the daily than drinking alcohol. While alcohol is more widely used overall, pot smokers are more likely to indulge on a daily basis, according to researchers at Carnegie Mellon University. Nearly 18 million Americans use marijuana every day, compared to just under 15 million daily drinkers. Daily marijuana use is a whopping *fifteen times* higher than it was 30 years ago. (AP)
