DJ Jay-C’s love for music started at an early age. When he was 10 years old, his mother bought him a used Michael Jackson turntable from a garage sale that he hooked to some PA Speakers. During the Summer, Jay would host his own radio show through his bedroom window taking requests from a group of college co-ed neighbors that used to party on the roof of their apartment building. Creating a party atmosphere for

these College students laid the groundwork for what would become a career in DJ’ing.

When he became old enough, Jay-C started dj’ing local college parties free of charge to make a name for himself. A club owner in Portland, Maine happened to stumble upon one of DJ Jay-C’s early mixtapes in his girlfriend’s car. Upon hearing the mixtape, the club owner contacted Jay-C and offered him a weekly college night slot at one of Portland Maine’s first hip hop clubs. Working the turntables with some of New England’s best dj’s, this launched a DJ career that has spanned over a decade! DJ Jay-C has been known on the New England music scene for his signature sound of hip hop mashups and party rocking electro music.

Nominated as Best DJ by the Portland Pheonix in 2011 and 2012, DJ Jay-C has held a residency at almost every major nightclub in Portland. He has also opened for numerous recording artists, most recently J. Cole. Jay-C is currently the weekly Saturday resident of one of Portland’s hottest nightclubs Pearl Lounge.

“From Pakistan, to L.A., to Boston,” and now Portland, DJ Pup Dawg is one of the more powerful DJ’s in hip-hop. His talent and credentials represents his monumental accomplishment, but only reflect a small portion of his personality. DJ Pup Dawg has opened up for the very talented Alicia Keys, Akon, and Common, just to name a few. He has contributed greatly in the success of two well-known radio stations (92.3 The Beat in LA and Jamn 94.5 in Boston) and worked with countless celebrities. However, don’t let his resume make the impression; Pup is as humble as a puppy. His personality can be described as determined, strong-minded, hard worker, creative, adaptive, yet reliable, honest, funny, warm, and charming.
