1. Former reality TV show host Donald Trump and Democratic rival Joe Biden held separate town halls in different cities Thursday night in a substitute for the debate that was meant to be. Trump said “When I see thousands of ballots dumped in a garbage can and they happen to have my name on it? I’m not happy about it.” No cases involving thousands of ballots dumped in the trash have been reported in this election.
2. The U.S. tops 7.9 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 217,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported one new death and 20 additional cases on Wednesday. The statewide death toll is now 144 w/ 622 active cases.
3. An outbreak at an L.L. Bean facility is growing. The number of known cases is now 17 at the distribution center in Freeport. The CDC also says there’s a new outbreak of four cases at the Summer Commons construction site in Sanford.
4. Nicholas Mitchell, the man accused of putting razor blades in pizza dough is expected to make his first court appearance in Maine today. Hannaford, Shaw’s, and Star Markets have since recalled dough under the Portland Pie Company brand.
5. National Mammography Day – This falls on the third Friday of October. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Make sure your mammography is an annual appointment that you keep.
