1. The U.S. tops 8.9 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 228,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 80 additional cases on Thursday. The statewide death toll is 146 w/ 859 active cases. The 80 additional cases is a new record for a single-day increase in cases. The old record was set back in May. (WMTW)

2. The Maine CDC says there is a new outbreak linked to the Pat’s Pizza in the Old Port. 10 people are connected to the outbreak, most are customers. If you were at Pat’s Pizza on Friday, October 16 or Thursday, October 22, the CDC says you have likely been exposed to the virus and should get tested. (WGME)

3. Maine native Travis Roy, who became an advocate for spinal cord research after being paralyzed while playing college hockey, has died. Roy was 11 seconds into his first shift playing hockey for Boston University in 1995 when he was paralyzed in an accident on the ice. Roy grew up in Yarmouth and attended North Yarmouth Academy before going to BU. After his paralysis, Roy founded the Travis Roy Foundation in 1996. (WMTW)

4. Walmart has temporarily pulled ammunition and guns off its shelves ahead of any possible civil unrest that could take place following next week’s election. (BLOOMBERG)

5. 5pm today is the deadline to vote in-person absentee in Maine before the election on Nov. 3. You can continue to return absentee ballots to clerks’ offices or to ballot drop boxes until polls close on Tuesday. (WMTW)
