1. The U.S. tops 6.6 million coronavirus cases with over 197,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 21 new cases on Thursday. Maine’s death toll is 138 w/ 504 active cases.

2. The Maine CDC is reporting another outbreak of COVID-19 in York County, this time at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery. So far, 18 people have tested positive. Seven of those people were using a van to carpool from Sanford.

3. On Thursday, President Trump said that teaching kids about systemic racism is “a form of child abuse.” The president encouraged a “pro-American curriculum that celebrates the truth about our nation’s great history.” Trump said he’ll sign an executive order for a commission promoting “patriotic education, which will be called the “1776 Commission.”

4. Police say three homes in Hampden reported that poop, likely from an animal, had been left in their mailboxes. A common trait linking all three homes: Trump campaign signs in the yards. Police chief Scott Weber confirmed the person behind these actions was a female minor.

5. National Cheeseburger Day. The simple act of adding cheese to a burger is celebrated today. McDonald’s, which is experiencing shortages of some ingredients because of the popularity of its limited Travis Scott Meal, will still have a Cheeseburger Day deal today. For one day, the fast-food giant will offer double cheeseburgers for 50 cents with an offer on its mobile app.
