1. 17 “undocumented non-citizens” were arrested Tuesday night in Lisbon. Border Patrol is now saying they were housed and employed by a Massachusetts company. Photos showed air beds side-by-side with thin blankets in the home. (WMTW)
2. Portland held a ribbon cutting for the new 208-bed Homeless Services Center at 654 Riverside Street on Wednesday. Guests are expected to start staying the night next week. The center will replace Portland’s Oxford Street Shelter. (PH)
3. Bull Feeney’s pub is shutting down after 21 years on Sunday. Owner Doug Fuss said “We just celebrated St. Patrick’s Day for the 19th time, taking great pride in being able to bring the incredible experience of St. Patrick’s Day at Bull Feeney’s to a generation born during the year we opened.” Fuss did not rule out having a new owner take over the tavern. 4. Lawmakers unanimously voted to kill a bill that would increase fines for using a cellphone while driving. Opponents argued that higher fines have not been proven to increase compliance and disproportionately impact low-income drivers. (PH)
