1. The U.S. tops 7.2 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 206,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 54 additional cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The statewide death toll remains 141 w/ 572 active cases.

2. Gov. Janet Mills on Wednesday extended the coronavirus state of civil emergency another 30 days. “As Maine enters the colder months and more activities move indoors, it is more important than ever to maintain the critical public health measures that have kept us all safe,” Mills said in a statement.The state of civil emergency allows the state to use federal resources and to deploy all available tools to respond to the pandemic.

3. Parking costs a bit more in Portland starting today. Meter rates rose to $2 per hour. Also starting today, street maintenance signs are back in effect in Portland.

4. Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced the launch of a new absentee ballot tracking service. The service will allow Maine voters to track the status of their absentee ballot at every stage of the voting process, including whether it was accepted or rejected.

5. A moose that was on the loose around neighborhoods in So Po and beyond has now been tranquilized. Authorities are now trying to safely transport it back to where it belongs.
