1. The U.S. tops 14.9 million Covid-19 cases with over 283,000 deaths. The Maine CDC reported a record 427 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. It’s the most cases over a 24-hour period since the pandemic began in Maine. Maine’s death toll is 227 with 3,402 active cases.
2. Maine Med in Portland reported the number of COVID-positive patients more than doubled, from 16 to 35 last week. Visitors are no longer allowed in many areas of the hospital, and some elective surgeries are being rescheduled.
3. Thousands of CMP customers are still without power after a weekend According to the estimated restoration times some Mainers won’t be able to turn their lights back on until late Wednesday night.
4. Cannabis is now Maine’s most valuable crop, besting potatoes, milk and blueberries. Medical marijuana sales totaled $221.8 million from January through October.
