1. A family found skeletal remains while cleaning out their late father’s property in Casco over the weekend. One of his sons had filed an “affidavit of diligent search,” a document used in probate cases stating his sister’s “whereabouts are unknown.” DNA testing on the remains could take several weeks, or longer, to determine the identity and possible cause of death. 2. The U.S. tops 32.7 million covid-19 cases with more than 582,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 2 new deaths and 238 new cases on Tuesday bringing Maine’s death toll to 797. Over 44% of Mainers have been fully vaccinated. Vaccinations for 12-15 year olds began yesterday. (WMTW)
3. Bates is the latest College to say that all students will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before arriving on campus for the 2021-2022 year. Bowdoin and UNE have announced similar requirements. (WGME)
4. Gov. Mills announced the ‘Your Shot to Get Outdoors’ initiative to encourage more Mainers to get vaccinated before summer arrives. Maine adults who get their first dose between Tuesday and May 31 will qualify to receive one of several incentives.
