North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un issued a rare personal statement via state media on Thursday in which he announced that President Donald Trump would “pay dearly” for his recent speech to the U.N. “A frightened dog barks louder,” Kim declared. “Whatever Trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation. 2. Hurricane Jose’s biggest impact on Maine could be Hurricane Maria. As Jose continues to generate large ocean swells along the Maine coast, forecasters say it could push Hurricane Maria closer to land early next week. Depending in part on how high pressure systems might shift over the weekend, the remnants of Jose could help draw Maria further out to sea or push the hurricane toward land. Most forecasts models indicate the hurricane is likely to stay out at sea instead of making landfall. (BD)

The family of late NFL player Aaron Hernandez is suing the league and the New England Patriots after learning he suffered a traumatic brain injury while playing. “We got the results back and found that not only did he have CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), but it was the most severe case that they’ve ever seen in a football player of his age,” Hernandez family attorney Jose Baez said. “There are four stages of CTE, and Aaron was a stage 3 at age 27.” Hernandez’s fiancée Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez also claims the NFL and the Patriots were “fully aware” of the link between suicidal impulses and CTE and failed to share that info with the athlete. 4. The Animal Refuge League in Westbrook is taking in pets displaced by three major hurricanes. Around 30 pets that were rescued from the Virgin Islands before the storms hit are now in Maine, and Animal Refuge League officials say they need your help finding homes for the cats and dogs in their shelter.
