1. The remains of a toddler who was dragged into a lagoon and killed by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on Tuesday night were found yesterday afternoon. The 2-year-old Nebraska boy, Lane Graves, was pulled into the Seven Seas Lagoon at about 9:30 p.m. during a “movie night” event, and his dad’s courageous attempt to save him from the gator’s jaws was unsuccessful. 2. Police divers will resume the search for a missing Scarborough man today. Matthew Foster, 23, was last seen in the Old Port on Friday night, and police dogs have tracked him to the Chandlers Wharf area. The Portland Police Department suspended the search Wednesday evening, but said it is confident that dive teams are searching in the correct location. (PH)
3. Anne Verrill owner of both Foreside Tavern in Falmouth and Grace in Portland posted a picture of an AR-15,semi-automatic rifle on facebook with the caption; “Let me be clear, this is not a political issue. This is a human rights issue. If you own this gun, or you condone the ownership of this gun for private use, you may no longer enter either of my restaurants, because the only thing I want to teach my children is love.” The post which ignited a debate over guns in Maine was later deleted but Verrill says she does not regret taking a stand online. 4. The Cat made its first ferry trip from Nova Scotia to Portland yesterday. The vessel, expected to boost tourism in Nova Scotia, is chartered by Bay Ferries. The Cat makes the trip in 5.5 hours, about half the time as its predecessor, the Nova Star. (PH)
