1. Two people were killed in car crash in Sanford Sunday night. It happened at the intersection of Grammar Road and Candlewood Lane around 9:15 p.m. Police say the 2009 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 20-year-old Blake Deslauriers, of Springvale, was driving at a high speed. They say the car left the road, became airborne, and hit a tree. Deslauriers died in the crash. The passenger, 37-year-old Danielle Harrison, of Sanford, also died in the crash.

2. Saturday featured the biggest-ever Pride Portland Parade w/ 160 marching groups. A June tradition for more than 40 years, Saturday’s event included huge crowds of cheering supporters along the route.

3. Defending World Cup champions have found it hard to get out of the group stage lately, and Germany is proving no exception. The 2014 champions, ranked No. 1 in the world, were exposed defensively and surprisingly beaten Sunday by Mexico 1-0, putting its hopes of advancing in doubt. Mexico never had beaten Germany in a competitive match.

This day celebrates sushi, which was inspired by the Southeast Asian tradition of Narezushi–in which fish was stored by being wrapped in salted and fermented rice to preserve it for months at a time.
