1. Portland police shut down a section of Commercial Street to traffic Wednesday night after an accident involving seven vehicles. “Driver was ejected in the crash, but does not appear to have serious injuries,” Portland police tweeted. “Speed and alcohol are considered factors.” (PressHerald)
2. Prosecutors intend to release undercover video of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and others allegedly receiving sex acts at a Florida massage parlor. The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office filed a notice Wednesday saying it believes the videos are public records under Florida law and it plans to release pixilated versions. Kraft’s attorneys filed an emergency motion Wednesday to block the release. (WGME)
3. A bill to ban foam cups and containers statewide is moving forward. The proposed ban would keep restaurants and other businesses from using “Styrofoam” containers. The bill will return to the house and senate for additional votes before it goes to Governor Mills’ Office for it to be signed. (WGME)
4. National High Five Day. Marked annually on the third Thursday in April, this day honors that ubiquitous form of celebration that entails two people jubilantly slapping hands together. The high five was allegedly created in 1977 when L.A. Dodgers Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke clapped hands together to celebrate a big moment in a game.
