As of now, all school-based water activities are banned in the district until further notice. Following recent allegations that its owner and former publisher, Kevin Thomas, sexually harassed a female employee in 2010, the assets of magazine publishing company Maine Media Collective have been sold, the company said Thursday. “I’m thrilled to tell you that Maine magazine, Maine Home+Design and Old Port magazine have new owners,” said the company’s current publisher and CEO, Andrea King, in an email. “State 23 Media, a newly formed (limited liability company), has acquired all print, event and digital media assets from Maine Media Collective. 3. The Wells-Ogunquit school committee voted unanimously Wednesday to remove Native American imagery associated with school mascots. The vote ended a seven-month study and discussion of the Wells High “Warriors” nickname and its associated “Warrior head” logo, along with other Native American-themed imagery. The discussion pitted those who considered the imagery offensive or insensitive against some residents who viewed it as a proud part of the school’s tradition. (Press Herald)
