1. A female shooter is dead after opening fire and wounding three people in a cafe at the YouTube headquarters in Northern California on Tuesday. The shooter, identified as Nasim Aghdam, has been described by TMZ as a disgruntled user of the social platform who claimed the company censored and discriminated against her. She had previously posted clips denouncing the company for allegedly age restricting her videos and limiting the views she received on her content. (CNN)
2. A legislative committee voted Tuesday to boost the minimum residency requirement to get a state license to grow, manufacture or sell recreational marijuana from three to four years during its final review of the bill that would launch adult-use cannabis sales in Maine. The new version of the bill is more conservative, eliminating cannabis social clubs and cutting an individual’s home grow from six to three plants. Senator Roger Katz hopes this bill will have LePage’s support, but committee members are confident that they have the votes to override a veto if necessary. Last November, supporters fell 17 votes shy of being able to adopt the legislation without LePage’s signature. (Press Herald)
3. Tom Brady will be without one of his top receivers from last season after the Patriots traded deep threat Brandin Cooks to the Rams on Tuesday for Los Angeles’ first-round draft pick, 23rd overall. This trade comes on the heels of one of Brady’s favorite targets in Danny Amendola being signed by the Dolphins in free agency. Julian Edelman is expected to return after suffering a preseason knee injury, and Malcolm Mitchell is also slated to return after spending time on injured reserve with a knee issue.
