1. Residents in Scarborough voted to recall three Board of Education members Tuesday. Residents voted at a rate of about three to one to recall Donna Beely, Cari Lyford, and Jodi Shea. This all comes back to the forced resignation of Scarborough High School Principal David Creech.
People who wanted them out of office, say these board members sided with the superintendent on not allowing Creech to keep his job and on issues like changing school start times. (WGME)
2. Sanford Police are warning Mainers about a dangerous synthetic opioid that could be making its way up the east coast. It’s called W-18. W-18 is a synthetic opioid 100-times more potent than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine. Officials say the drug is deadly to humans and one dose could be immediately fatal. Most drug users do not always know the specific compounds they are using and would not know if this drug was present. (WGME)
3. Yarmouth, Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth high schools cracked the top 500 high schools nationwide in the latest annual U.S. News & World Report rankings released Wednesday. In overall best high schools in the nation, Yarmouth was 209th, Cape Elizabeth was 459th and Falmouth was 485th. (Press Herald)
4. Chrissy Teigen is no longer the only one who can have John Legend in their home every day. Google won the digital assistant game on Tuesday when CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning crooner would be one of the new voice choices on Google Assistant. Mashable reports that Legend’s voice won’t be fully integrated in the digital assistant, but will be available for a variety of standard queries–such as providing your wakeup message and telling you your appointments for the day. And if you like your weather report extra sexy, you’re in luck. Teigen responded to the announcement on Twitter, saying, “I don’t even need human John anymore.” (Mashable)
