It’s about to be the end of an era! Best Buy announced they will stop selling DVDs and Blu-ray discs at the end of the 2023 holiday season. They said streaming has made DVDs obsolete, and they can use physical space in their stores and warehouses for tech products in higher demand.
Best Buy’s exit from the market will leave Walmart, Amazon, and Target as the top retailers stocking DVDs. Walmart reportedly controls 45% of the market. With that being said, Best Buy’s choice definitely makes sense. Even though I’m sad to see DVDs go, I couldn’t tell you the last time I bought one. Excited to see what Best Buy does with the extra space!
