Daddy Yankee has revealed he is retiring from performing in order to dedicate his life to Christianity. He announced the big news on stage during the last date of this farewell tour on Sunday.
He told the crowd, in Spanish, “My people, this day for me is the most important day of my life. And I want to share it with you because living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose. Tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him. For many years, I’ve tried filling a hole in my life that no one could fill. I tried finding a purpose, on many occasions, it seemed as if I was happy, but something was missing for me to feel complete. Thank you very much, Puerto Rico, and I hope that you walk with me in this new beginning.” Daddy Yankee also said he will now go by his birth name, Ramón Ayala.
