Let me start off by clearly stating: no, they could not. However, you have to love the confidence!
While discussing all things sports and, more specifically, LeBron James being the first NBA player to ever score 40K points, on the It Is What It Is show on YouTube, Ma$e decided to make this bold and hubristic claim citing that he “just thinks it’s a cupcake league.”
In regards to LeBron’s record, Ma$e said, “40,000 points is a remarkable feat. I just think it’s a cupcake league, for real. I think in this league today, if I was in top shape, I could probably average about 15, 16. I’m just keeping it real.” And he even went on to say that his co-host on the show, Killa Cam, would be averaging damn near 20.
Now, they aren’t just some bums who have zero hoops knowledge, as both Ma$e and Cam’Ron were highly regarded high school basketball players in NYC, even garnering some D1 college interest. But, let’s be real, they’re highly downplaying just how good today’s NBA athletes are. Is it a softer league today than it was 20-30 years ago? Most would say yes and be very valid in that claim. But the worst guy on an NBA bench today would probably smoke Ma$e, even if he were in his prime, sorry to say!
