Say it isn’t so! Former NFL player, Michael Oher, is now suing the family that “adopted” him. You remember their (alleged) story from the 2009 classic film, The Blind Side.
Michael filed legal papers in Tennessee claiming they didn’t truly make him a part of the family. In fact, he claims Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy tricked him into signing a document that made them his conservators when he turned 18 years old, allowing them to make business deals in his name. He also alleges that the family made millions off the movie The Blind Side while he made nothing off the story “that would not have existed without him.”
In his filing, it says, “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of the Tuohy family, in fact, provided him no familial relationship with the Tuohys.” He simply wants the court to break the conservatorship and stop the Tuohys from using his name and likeness in any business dealings.
This is so heartbreaking to hear. Fingers crossed it all gets worked out in court!
