This partnership might come as a shock to some because of the past relationship Jay-Z has had with the NFL. Jay-Z, one of Colin Kaepernick’s biggest supporters, has teamed up with the NFL for a music and social justice campaign.
The rapper and his Roc Nation company will be the league’s “live music entertainment strategist” and also working on the league’s Inspire Chance activism campaign. In the past, Jay-Z did not seem to show a liking to the NFL. Last year, the rapper called the NFL out by dissing them in a song called “APESH*T” where he rapped about turning down the Super Bowl halftime show to show support to Kaepernick. Now, he will be a consultant for the halftime show.
It looks like the NFL is trying to fix the league after the backlash it received after national anthem demonstrations. The Inspire Change initiative was created to “create positive change in communities across the country.”
It will definitely be interesting to see who the first artist will be to perform at the halftime show under the guidance of Jay-Z. Also, how does Colin Kaepernick feel about this?
