No surprise that this is what came out of this meeting. Nicki Minaj chatted with Joe Budden on her latest episode of her Apple Music Queen Radio series, but it was cut short, and was more of arguing than chatting.
The rapper’s Hot Girl Summer collab partner Megan Thee Stallion was originally supposed to guest on the latest episode but instead The Joe Budden Show podcast co-hosts joined her. Early on, the two argued about various things, but then tensions peaked when Budden accused Minaj jumping on Hot Girl Summer as a pre-planned marketing ploy.
He also then went ahead and continued to tear the rapper down by assuming that she had a drug problem. He said, “Your entire last album did that. Your past is littered with it. Who gives a f*ck what she pop? But don’t sit here and act like you’ve never popped a pill.” Obviously Minaj was not going to take that. She responded with “You like tearing down women when they can’t defend themselves. You like tearing down women when you can try to end their career because you’re low-key jealous of their success.”
During the conversation, Minaj’s producers cut Budden’s mic, ending the argument. This sit down wasn’t all that she expected it to be. Minaj said “It’s been malicious and specific to me because he and I were under the same people when we were coming up, I used to think to myself, this man is so bitter… I didn’t think his ego was that out of control that he couldn’t admit when he was wrong.”
Despite this heated podcast, Minaj announced that her fifth album is coming soon and she said she has a “dope producer working on it with her. We are excited to hear some new music from her after such a long wait and hopefully her next podcast guest will be willing to have a peaceful chat.
