The government of Barbados has appointed Rihanna to the position of Ambassador Extraordinary.
As Ambassador, her duties include promoting education, tourism and investment, and it is a must to refer to her as Her Excellency or Madam Ambassador. RiRi, at 30 years old, will also receive a diplomatic passport, travel privileges and diplomatic immunity.
“I couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country,” she said in a statement released by the Barbadian government. “Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to reimagine Barbados”
Fun fact, Rihanna became one of Barbados’ cultural ambassadors in 2008. The street she grew up on, Westbury New Road, was also renamed after her.
