Well it’s about damn time! For what exactly…well, not the actual album itself, but at least an update! It’s been 9 years since Rihanna delivered ANTI with many wondering if she would be done with music forever at this point. Well, turns out she has just run in to a bit of perfectionism and indecisiveness on the direction she wants her new album to take.
“After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. It has to matter,” Rihanna said in regards to her delay in delivering a new body of work. She continued on to explain, “I have to show them the worth in the wait. I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.” One has to wonder if this level of perfectionism could ultimately be the downfall in ever delivering the project she yearns to, but it seems as though she is on the right path. “I went through phases of what I wanted to do. ‘This kind of album, not that album.’ I know it’s not going to be anything that anybody expects, and it’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible. It’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”
As of now she claims there is no exact genre, and of course, no title quite yet, but at least there is a crumb of detail eluding to the album actually existing and being in the works!
