1. Jennifer Scruggs, a Turner woman, has been accused of buying 55 firearms for a Cali gang. Scruggs is being held without bail.  She initially justified the purchases by stating that she didn’t trust banks and felt that buying firearms was a better long-term investment. She cited medical concerns, including cancer, as a reason for purchasing the guns to leave to her son in case of her death. (WMTW)

2. Portland officials will remove homeless encampments along Bayside Trail due to unsafe conditions. Outreach will be done before the removal to connect campers to resources. The process will take a few weeks and comes as most shelters in the city are full. (WMTW)

3. Sea Dog Brewing Co. closed its brewpub and bowling center on Broadway in SoPo due to not being able to meet the fixed costs. All staff from the Broadway location will have new positions at other nearby locations. (PH)

4. A lobsterman based in Cushing caught a 5-foot-long, 150-pound missile while checking his traps. It was identified as a military rocket containing 3-5 pounds of explosives. Police used a countercharge to render it safe. (WMTW)

5. The University of New England dance team won the jazz competition at the Dance Team Union College Classic in Orlando, taking home the DIII national title. It’s the first championship for the university. (WGME)
