1. Police arrested a man in Portland on Monday evening, who was waving a metal pole in the same neighborhood where a six-year-old girl was attacked earlier in the day. Police have not yet linked the man to the morning’s assault, but several neighbors identified him as the attacker based on his appearance. (WGME)
2. City manager Steven Buck announced that the influx of almost 100 asylum seekers, including men, women and children mainly from Angola, has exceeded capacity in Sanford. An emergency meeting will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday at the city hall to discuss the crisis. On Monday, the asylum seekers waited outside city hall for hours, hoping to receive general assistance for food and shelter. (WMTW)
