3. Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins announced Friday that she’s staying out of the governor’s race because she believes she can do more good for Maine by staying in Washington. “I continue to believe that Congress can, and will, be more productive,” Collins said. “I want to continue to play a key role in advancing policies that strengthen our nation, help our hardworking families, improve our health care system, and bring peace and stability to a troubled and violent world.” (WGME)

He led deputies to hiding spots in a wooded area where the undergarments were recovered. (WGME)
5. Boston city officials have received at least 60 complaints involving out-of-control turkeys in the past year, a threefold increase over the previous 12 months. While the AP reports that these grievances typically amount to little more than a bird blocking traffic, at least five situations required police to gun down turkeys as a matter of public safety, as some are prone to attacking humans and household pets. Wild turkey biologist David Scarpitti notes, “Turkeys don’t really mean to harm people— They lose perspective that humans are humans and turkeys are turkeys. They just want to assert dominance over anything.” (AP)
