1. As deaths in the U.S. neared 11,000, with over 365,000 confirmed infections New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the first, faint signs the outbreak there might be at or near its peak, while warning it’s no time to relax social distancing restrictions. He ordered schools and nonessential businesses to remain closed until the end of the month and doubled fines for rule breakers to $1,000. (NEW YORK POST)
2. There have been 499 coronavirus cases reported in 15 Maine counties as of Monday. Ten people have died due to the coronavirus, according to the Maine CDC. 92 people have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 158 people have recovered. The highest amount of coronavirus cases are in Cumberland County, with 249 cases, and York County, with 108. (WGME)
3. The city of Portland has closed all the parking lots associated with Back Cove because the trail has seen high usage and even overcrowding. Back Cove is still open but you must maintain a six feet distance. (WGME)
4. Spectrum is looking to hire at least 100 customer service workers for its call center in Portland. The company also announced a $1.50 hourly raise for field operations and customer service employees. A spectrum director said “People are out of work, and we have jobs available that will help us to continue to deliver and support the communities we serve.” (WKBW)
