1. The Maine Senate will vote on a recreational marijuana bill today. The bill lays out how the state will implement recreational pot and regulate it. However, Governor Paul LePage has already said he’ll veto the bill when it reaches his desk. If passed, the bill will reduce the number of plants people can have, ban social clubs, and double the tax on marijuana from 10 to 20 percent. (WGME)
2. Five men were rescued after police say their car flew off River Road and into Pleasant River in Windham. Police say the five people in the car were able to escape the car and stand on the roof until help arrived. Officials say the men are lucky to be alive. Police say the car may not be removed for days. (WGME)
3. Desiree Linden won the 2018 Boston Marathon on Monday, finishing in two hours 39 minutes and 54 seconds to become the first American woman to win the race in 33 years. It was the coldest Boston Marathon in the past 30 years. Thomas Pore of Saco placed 197th among all men in 2 hours, 42 minutes and 33 seconds. No other Maine runner finished among the top 250. Tracy Guerrette, 37, of St. Agatha was Maine’s top woman. (Press Herald)
4. After a three-year wait, the Maine Lobster Shack has opened at 425 Fore St. in Portland. The fast-casual seafood restaurant is located next to Gelato Fiasco in the Old Port. This summer, outdoor seating will be available on the restaurant’s private patio. The Maine Lobster Shack menu includes chowder, lobster rolls, oysters, mussels and a variety of fried seafood.
